Milestone for Hindi Promotion: HindiUSA Marks 25 Years with Atlanta Poetry Event

The nonprofit organization HindiUSA celebrated a significant milestone last weekend, marking its 25th year of promoting Hindi language and culture in the United States. The anniversary was honored with a 'Kavya Sandhya' poetry evening in Suwanee, Georgia, on May 10.

The Atlanta-area event, held at North Gwinnett High School, was the result of work by over three dozen local volunteers. It attracted an audience of more than 150 community members. The gathering featured readings and performances, with notable appearances by cultural figures Brijesh Samarth, Shiv Agrawal, and Pandit Gyan Prakash Upadhyay.

This celebration was part of a nationwide series of 'Kavi Sammelans' or poet gatherings organized by HindiUSA this year. For a quarter-century, the volunteer-driven group has worked to preserve linguistic heritage for the diaspora, creating forums for artistic expression and intergenerational connection. Events like this underscore the continued vitality of Indian languages abroad, serving as cultural touchstones for families and fostering community among second-generation youth.
