Desi.Net is a hyperlocal lifestyle hub for the South Asian (Desi) community — a free, city-by-city guide to local Indian and South Asian restaurants, grocers, temples and gurdwaras, services, events, movies, festivals and community news. Our goal is simple: help Desi families find what matters in their city.

Who runs Desi.Net

Desi.Net is an independent publisher, not a faceless aggregator. We build and maintain every city guide ourselves, verify listings, and stand behind what we publish. Questions, feedback, or press: support@desi.net.

How we build the directory

Our listings are compiled from public and openly-licensed sources, then verified before they’re shown:

• Map & place data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). • Structured facts from Wikidata (CC0). • Public registries (e.g. the NPI provider registry). • Owner submissions. • Movie data via TMDB (we use the TMDB API but are not endorsed or certified by TMDB).

A listing is only published after it passes our verification — we’d rather show fewer, accurate listings than pad a page with unverified ones. Own a business? Add or claim your listing to manage it directly.

Our newsroom & how we report

Local news on Desi.Net is published by the Desi.Net Newsroom. Each article is an original summary written from verified, named sources (linked at the bottom of every article), focused on what’s genuinely relevant to a city’s Desi community. We don’t copy articles, and we don’t publish national filler dressed up as local news.

Responsible use of AI. Like most modern newsrooms, we use AI tools to help draft and summarize — but always grounded in real, verified source material and reviewed before publishing. AI is an assistant in our process, not an unchecked author: we don’t let it invent facts, quotes, prices, or contact details, and anything it can’t ground in a real source is dropped. This is how we keep scale and accuracy.

Accuracy & corrections

We work hard to be accurate, but details change and mistakes happen. Listing details (hours, phone, addresses), event times, and showtimes can change without notice — please confirm important details directly with the business or organizer before you go. Spotted an error? Tell us at support@desi.net or via our contact form, and we’ll review and fix it promptly. Business owners can also request a correction or removal at any time.
