Gujarat CM Inaugurates 24th Shala Praveshotsav, Welcoming 390 New Students in Vadnagar
Gandhinagar, June 23 – Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel officiated the launch of the 24th edition of Gujarat’s Shala Praveshotsav, a statewide school‑opening ceremony aimed at boosting enrolment in rural areas. The event took place at BN High School in Vadnagar, Mehsana district, where the school welcomed 390 children into its classrooms.
Patel highlighted the state’s commitment to expanding educational access, noting that the program’s continued growth reflects both government investment and community enthusiasm for schooling. While the ceremony was largely a state‑level affair, it drew attention from across the diaspora, many of whom track Gujarat’s education initiatives as a gauge of broader development trends.
The ceremony coincided with a visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the region, underscoring the political significance of educational outreach in his home state. Officials said the Shala Praveshotsav model could be replicated in other districts to address persistent enrollment gaps, especially among girls and marginalized groups.
For overseas Desis, the event serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s grassroots education system and the opportunities it creates for future generations.
