Zed suggested that a designated Hindu Prayer Room should include a shrine containing murtis of popular deities such as Shiva, Vishnu, Rama, Krishna, Durga, Venkateshwara, Ganesha, Murugan, Saraswati, Hanuman, Lakshmi, and Kali, along with devotional items including a ghanta, a dholak, and a Shiva-linga. He specifically urged NZ Minister for Tertiary Education Penny Simmonds, Secretary for Education Ellen MacGregor-Reid, University of Auckland Vice-Chancellor Dawn Freshwater, and University of Waikato Vice-Chancellor Neil Quigley to take the matter seriously and be more receptive to the needs of their diverse student bodies.
