Karnataka police round up nearly 2,000 suspected undocumented migrants in Bengaluru sweep

Bengaluru’s Electronic City police subdivision announced that it has detained 1,909 individuals suspected of being in the country without legal status. The operation, carried out on August 9, spanned 29 separate sites across the city’s tech hub and surrounding neighborhoods.

Authorities say the coordinated raid targeted people who could not produce valid documentation, and among those taken into custody, 15 have been identified as Bangladeshi nationals. The remaining detainees are still undergoing verification to determine their nationality and immigration status.
