This Month in Desi Birmingham: June 2026

Written and reviewed by the Desi.Net Newsroom. How we report. Details can change — spotted an error? Tell us.

June is shaping up to be a genuinely exciting month for Birmingham's Desi community, and if your appetite is anything to go by, you're going to want to loosen your belt 😄. No fewer than six new restaurants have joined Desi.Net this month — Hyderabad's Spicy Hub, Madurai Chettinad South Indian Restaurant, Vaibhavam, Chai Peedika, Tiffin Walay, and Starvalley Restaurant are all now listed and ready to be discovered. From the fiery kitchens of Hyderabad to the deeply aromatic traditions of Chettinad, and from the simple joy of a perfectly brewed chai to tiffin done properly, this wave of new openings speaks to just how richly diverse and wonderfully ambitious our community's food scene continues to be. ☕

Beyond the dining table, the spiritual calendar draws us together beautifully as June closes. Shree Geeta Bhawan Birmingham hosts a meaningful cluster of occasions in the final days of the month — Ganga Dashara on the 24th, followed by the observance of Nirjala Ekadashi on the 25th, one of the most significant fasts in the Vaishnav calendar. Then, in the same breath, comes Mataji Annual Day on the 28th, with Vat Savitri Vrat and Purnima both falling on the 29th — a truly full and auspicious close to the month. 🙏

For those already looking ahead, Panchak begins at 8.19pm on 3rd July, again at Shree Geeta Bhawan Birmingham, so do keep that in mind as you plan the weeks ahead. Whether you're exploring a new restaurant this month or gathering with family for these cherished observances, June offers something that feels very much like the heart of what Desi Birmingham is — food, faith, and community, all in one warm breath.
