Bollywood Actor Aman Dhaliwal Attacked at Planet Fitness in Corona

Aman Dhaliwal, 36, a Bollywood actor credited in more than a dozen movies and television shows and a resident of Corona, was attacked with a knife and hatchet at a Planet Fitness gym at 3685 Grand Oaks in Corona, according to ABC7 Los Angeles. The incident began in the parking lot when Dhaliwal observed the suspect, Ronald Chand, 30, of Santa Ana, behaving erratically in his vehicle and began recording video of him on his cell phone. Chand reportedly became upset, blocked Dhaliwal with his car, and then attacked him. Dhaliwal ran inside the gym but Chand followed. Witness John Keane, who was exercising at the time, said he heard screaming and turned to see a man holding a knife in one hand and a hatchet in another with his arm around another man who was bleeding. Dhaliwal waited for a moment when Chand was distracted, then attempted to knock the weapon from his hand and push him to the ground. Keane and three other witnesses restrained Chand until police arrived. Chand was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, pleaded not guilty at his first court appearance in downtown Riverside, and was held on $1 million bail. A family member told ABC7 that Dhaliwal suffered numerous injuries but was released from the hospital and was recovering at a nearby hotel while requesting privacy. Police said the two men did not appear to know each other, and witnesses indicated Chand appeared to be under the influence, though police had not confirmed that at the time of reporting.
