Darbhanga: Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Special Train Extended Through Festive Season

Western Railway has extended the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga weekly special train service to meet the anticipated passenger rush during the upcoming festive season, according to a report by Gujarat Samachar. Train No. 09465, the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Weekly Special, will now run until November 27, 2026. The return service, Train No. 09466, the Darbhanga-Ahmedabad Weekly Special, has been extended until November 30, 2026. Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek confirmed the extensions were aimed at facilitating passengers and accommodating the additional rush that typically builds during the festive period. Bookings for the extended trips are available from September 11 through Passenger Reservation System counters and the IRCTC website.

The route connects the major Gujarati city of Ahmedabad with Darbhanga in Bihar, serving a significant migrant labour and business community that travels between the two regions. The extension through the festive season — which in Bihar typically spans the Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali period — will allow families to travel home for celebrations without the difficulty of finding rail seats on regular services. Passengers are advised to book early through PRS counters or irctc.co.in given the expected demand.
