BPCL Rolls Out ‘Xtreme Weather Grade’ Diesel Tailored for Indian Army’s Toughest Conditions

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced that its chairman and managing director, Sanjay Khanna, has overseen the creation of a next‑generation diesel formulated especially for the Indian Army’s extreme operational environments. The fuel, branded “Xtreme Weather Grade (XWG) Diesel,” is engineered to maintain performance at both very high and very low temperatures, a capability that officials say is vital for military vehicles operating in harsh climates.

Khanna called the new diesel a strategic necessity for national defence, noting that an indigenous, weather‑resilient fuel reduces dependence on foreign imports and bolsters the army’s logistical readiness. While the product is still undergoing field evaluation, BPCL expects XWG diesel to complement ongoing modernisation drives within the armed forces and to demonstrate the Indian petroleum sector’s growing ability to produce specialised fuels for critical applications.
