BSES Yamuna Power Rolls Out ‘Solarise East’ Drive and Smart Substation in Gandhi Nagar

New Delhi – On Sunday, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL), in line with the Delhi government’s “Viksit Delhi” development agenda, announced two landmark projects aimed at modernising the city’s power infrastructure. The first, dubbed the Solarise East campaign, seeks to expand rooftop solar adoption across the eastern districts of the capital, encouraging households and businesses to generate clean energy and reduce dependence on the conventional grid.
Alongside the solar push, BYPL commissioned a smart substation at Gandhi Nagar, the utility’s inaugural installation of this advanced technology. The substation integrates digital monitoring, automated fault detection and real‑time load management, which together promise greater reliability and efficiency for consumers in the area.
Both initiatives underscore a broader shift toward sustainable, resilient energy solutions in Delhi, a city grappling with frequent outages and rising demand. For the South‑Asian diaspora keeping tabs on developments back home, these steps signal a commitment by local authorities and utilities to address climate concerns while improving everyday living standards for millions of residents.
The projects are expected to roll out over the coming months, with BYPL urging community participation in the solar programme and highlighting the benefits of a smarter, cleaner power grid.
