According to District Attorney Anne Donnelly, investigators were led to Campbell by a tipster, tied him to a red Nissan Altima seen near the scene, and later found internet searches from the minutes after the attack asking how to remove sulfuric acid from a car's fabric. Donnelly said Campbell had also uploaded a YouTube music video years later boasting about throwing acid at a woman. Ikram, who attended the arraignment, told reporters she was glad to close the chapter of uncertainty even as questions about motive remain open.
