The championship decider was held at the Government Graduate Waqar-un-Nisa College cricket ground in Rawalpindi, a well-regarded venue for university-level sport in the province. Cricket squads from six Punjab divisions — Rawalpindi, Lahore, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sargodha and Faisalabad — participated in the tournament, competing through divisional qualification rounds before the two finalists emerged. Faisalabad joined the rest of Pakistan on August 15 in marking the country's 79th Independence Day with a series of official and public ceremonies that reflected the city's deep sense of national pride. The central ceremony was held at the Commissioner Complex, where the national flag was hoisted following the sounding of a morning siren at 7:58 AM and the formal rendering of the national anthem. Faisalabad Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh presided over the main event, joined by Regional Police Officer Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique, Members of the Provincial Assembly Raja Daniyal, Bilal Badar Chaudhry and Uzma Raja, Women Ombudsperson Dr Najma Afzal, Haji Akram Ansari, and a wide range of other senior administrative, political and civic officials. Punjab Assembly Panel Takes Issue with Missing I&C Secretary and Faisalabad RPO
A meeting of the Punjab Assembly Privilege Committee chaired by MPA Samiullah Khan became heated on August 11 after a junior official appeared before the assembled lawmakers to represent the Implementation and Coordination (I&C) Secretariat rather than the I&C Secretary, who had been expected to appear in person.
