The Faisalabad divisional administration has unveiled plans for a comprehensive digital public transport system that marks a significant step toward smart-city infrastructure in Punjab. Commissioner Faisalabad and President of the Faisalabad Urban Transport Society (FUTS), Imran Hamid Sheikh, announced the initiative to reporters in late July 2026. The newly developed Faisalabad Public Transport App will integrate both government and private public transport services across the four districts of Faisalabad Division onto a single digital platform. Commuters will be able to track government buses, metro buses, electric buses and registered urban Hiace vehicles in real time, monitoring vehicle locations, schedules and routes from their phones. A route-planning feature will allow passengers to enter their destination and receive step-by-step guidance on how to reach it using available services. Alongside the app, an electric vehicle battery-swapping network is planned as part of broader efforts to modernise urban mobility and promote green transport across the division. Vehicles will be required to register digitally through the platform, which will be linked with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Sheikh clarified that the regulatory arrangements will apply to transport operators rather than passengers, and said the initiative could eventually become a model for digital public transport platforms in Punjab and Pakistan more broadly. 🪔 Faisalabad Division Wins CM Punjab Kabaddi Championship with 49–37 Victory
Faisalabad Division claimed the title at the CM Punjab Inter-Division Kabaddi Championship, defeating Sahiwal Division 49-37 in an entertaining final held at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore in early July 2026. The match was played to an appreciative crowd, with Lahore Division securing third place after a convincing 52-35 victory over Gujranwala Division in the third-place playoff. The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Punjab, Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar, who attended as chief guest. Secretary Sports Punjab Fazalur Rehman and Director General Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi were also present at the closing ceremony. A total cash prize of Rs 500,000 was distributed among the top three teams at the event, recognising the competitive performances across the division-level tournament.
