The Faisalabad divisional administration has unveiled plans for a comprehensive digital public transport system that combines a free mobile application with electric vehicle battery-swapping infrastructure, aiming to overhaul how residents and commuters travel across the division's four districts. Commissioner Faisalabad and President of the Faisalabad Urban Transport Society (FUTS), Imran Hamid Sheikh, announced that the newly developed Faisalabad Public Transport App will integrate government and private transport services on a single digital platform. The application is designed to provide live tracking of government buses, metro buses, electric buses and registered urban Hiace vehicles, allowing passengers to monitor vehicle locations, schedules and routes in real time from their mobile devices. A route-planning feature will allow users to enter their destination and receive step-by-step guidance on which buses to board, where to transfer and what the estimated arrival times are for connecting services. Sheikh confirmed that the app would be free of charge for all passengers, with any regulatory arrangements applying exclusively to transport operators. The platform will support digital registration of public transport vehicles and will be linked with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), with operator registrations expected to open within 15 days to one month ahead of the official launch.
