Hyderabad at the Ballot: Inside Telangana's Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls
Getting every eligible voter accurately on the rolls is the bedrock of democracy, and Hyderabad is right at the centre of Telangana's ambitious Special Intensive Revision exercise — with both progress and challenges coming into sharp focus this week.
📋 Hyderabad's Suburbs Lag in Form Distribution
The distribution of enumeration forms under Telangana's Special Intensive Revision has fallen behind in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Rangareddy districts. Of the three, Medchal-Malkajgiri recorded the lowest coverage, reaching only 61.57 percent of households. Officials have flagged the slowdown as a concern that could affect the completeness and accuracy of the updated electoral rolls in these fast-growing urban and peri-urban areas. [4]
🗳️ Telangana Hits 85% Statewide, Digitisation Begins
Despite uneven distribution in some districts, Telangana as a whole has achieved 85 percent form distribution across the state as part of the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Officials confirmed that digitisation of submitted forms is already under way, with 14,38,446 forms processed in the verification system so far. The parallel digitisation effort signals the state's push to modernise electoral record-keeping alongside the ground-level field work. [5]
💻 Submitted Your SIR Form Online? Here Is What Comes Next
Hyderabad residents who submitted their Special Intensive Revision enumeration forms through the Election Commission of India's website or app still have an important follow-up step: the submission is only considered complete once a Booth Level Officer verifies it in the official app. After receiving an acknowledgment from the portal, electors must present it to their BLO and obtain a signed copy in return. Residents whose mobile number is not linked to their voter ID are also advised to submit Form 8 to complete that linkage without delay. [6]
