India’s envoy meets Nepal’s prime minister to deepen bilateral cooperation and development partnership

New Delhi’s top diplomat in Kathmandu, Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, paid a courtesy call on Nepal’s prime minister Balen Shah on August 10. The meeting, a regular feature of diplomatic protocol, was used to reaffirm and expand the growing partnership between the two neighbours.

Both officials underscored the importance of stepping up collaboration in key sectors – from infrastructure and trade to energy and people‑to‑people exchanges. They reiterated commitment to ongoing development projects, notably road‑link upgrades and hydropower initiatives, and explored ways to ease cross‑border movement for workers, students and tourists.

For the South‑Asian diaspora, stronger Indo‑Nepal ties translate into smoother travel, expanded economic prospects and reinforced cultural connections. The dialogue reflects a long‑standing strategic bond and signals that both capitals are keen to sustain joint growth and stability in the Himalayan region.
