Two Pilots Killed When Training Aircraft Goes Down Near Ganga Barrage
A four-seater twin-engine training aircraft took off from an airfield in Kanpur Cantonment at approximately 11:20 in the morning on August 27, 2026, and crashed just minutes into its flight, coming down in an agricultural field near the Nattha Purwa locality in the Ganga Barrage area of the city. Both people on board were killed. The deceased were identified as Abhishek Pujari, a trainee pilot who was a resident of Karnataka, and Sumit Bhatia, a resident of Gujarat. According to police sources cited by Deccan Herald, Bhatia had accumulated 3,000 hours of flying experience, indicating he was serving as the flight instructor for the training exercise.
