Alan Ernest Muller, 89, Spent His Final Chapter With Family in Milton
Alan Ernest Muller, who was born in Houston, Texas, in 1936 and spent most of his life in the Temple, Texas area, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, in Milton, Georgia, where he had been living with family since August 2024. He was 89 years old. Muller built a distinguished career as a Professional Engineer, earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin before going on to found his own company, Stress Technology, which served the petrochemical and aerospace industries. Alongside his engineering work, he pursued deep theological study, earning a Master of Divinity from Grace Theological Seminary and devoting many years to Bible teaching, Sunday School, and evangelism ministry in the Belton area of Texas. He is survived by his wife of more than six decades, LaVerne Joyce Muller, who remains in Milton, as well as his daughter Rachel Milling and her husband Kirk, also of Milton, and several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services are being held in Temple, Texas, and the family has asked that memorial donations be directed to the City of Temple Animal Shelter or the J.A.I.L. Ministry in lieu of flowers. [1]
John L. Temple, Lifelong Servant of Higher Education, Remembered in Georgia
John L. Temple, 81, of Albany and Sky Valley, Georgia, passed away on March 17, 2019, at Willson Hospice House in Albany following a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and public service that spanned decades. Born in 1937 and raised in Hartwell, Georgia, Temple earned his business degree from the University of Georgia and went on to become a certified public accountant, beginning his professional life with an Atlanta accounting firm that sent him across the Southeast to advise colleges and universities on financial matters. That early work introduced him to the world of higher education administration, which would define his career; he later returned to the University of Georgia as director of business services before moving on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1970. He was remembered by those who knew him as a beloved husband to Ouida Brown Temple, a father of two, and a grandfather of six, as well as a friend to all who crossed his path. Visitation and memorial services were held at Mathews Funeral Home on March 23, 2019. [2]
