Synopsis
Ishqnama, directed by Arvinder Khaira, presents the 1849 manuscript of Wajid Ali Shah, the last king of Awadh. The film follows the narrative poem, written in Urdu with Persian chapter titles, and its 103 paintings, drawing from the historical text now housed in the Royal Collection Trust. A simplified prose adaptation, the Parikhana, is based on the Ishqnama.
