Shashikant Sharma, forty years old and a resident of Rajasthan's Karauli district, entered the STP tank to carry out cleaning work but lost consciousness inside the enclosed and gas-filled space. A security guard identified as Akash, twenty-two years old and a resident of Firozabad, then entered the tank in an attempt to rescue Sharma but he too fell unconscious. Local police and fire department personnel responded quickly and retrieved both men from the tank, rushing them to hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The bodies were sent for postmortem examination following inquest proceedings. Police registered a case and arrested the accused contractor, Manoj Jain, under the Knowledge Park police station.
