Chicago’s Indian Federation Marks U.S. Bicentennial and India’s 80‑Year Freedom Milestone in Schaumburg

On August 9, the Federation of Indian Associations‑Chicago (FIA‑Chicago) hosted a vibrant gathering of more than 800 participants at the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. The daylong program honored two historic benchmarks: the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence and India’s 80th year of freedom.

Community members, elected officials, business leaders and a roster of performers took part in a series of patriotic rites and cultural showcases that highlighted the shared values of democracy, entrepreneurship and heritage.
