🗳️ Dalit Farmers Raise Concerns Over Land Acquisition in Google-Adani Data Centre Project
In October 2025, the Andhra Pradesh government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Google through its subsidiary Raiden Infotech India Pvt Ltd for the establishment of a large-scale AI data centre complex in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts. The project is part of Google's approximately Rs 1.35 lakh crore investment plan in India, and a foundation stone was subsequently laid with the participation of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Concerns over the land acquisition process have since been documented by Land Conflict Watch in a report published in August 2026. The report, prepared by Amrita Chekkutty and Rakshit Dhingra with legal review by Anmol Gupta and editing by Anupa Kujur, flags concerns about how land belonging to Dalit farming families in Adavivaram, Mudasarlova, Rambilli, and Tarluvada is being acquired. The conflict has been active since 2025, affecting 51 households comprising approximately 244 people across a combined area of 243.38 hectares. The case is currently before the courts and classified as an ongoing dispute in the industrial sector category, raising questions about due process in land acquisition for high-value technology infrastructure projects in the state. 🎓 BJP Chief Nabin Meets Vizag Youth on Exam Reform and Entrepreneurship
BJP national president Nitin Nabin visited Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, for a direct interaction session with city youth, as reported by ANI. The engagement centred on three themes the party has placed at the forefront of its youth policy agenda: education policy, examination system reforms, and entrepreneurship. By holding this session in Visakhapatnam, Nabin underscored the city's growing prominence in the BJP's outreach calendar for Andhra Pradesh, engaging with a demographic that is increasingly central to the city's identity as a rising technology and services hub. Examination reform has been a subject of extensive national attention, with students, parents, and educators following proposals to restructure the administration and design of competitive assessments. Nabin's choice to address this topic directly with Visakhapatnam youth reflects both local demand for policy clarity and the BJP's effort to project a forward-looking position on educational governance. The entrepreneurship component of the discussion pointed to a wider effort to position Visakhapatnam as a city not merely attracting investment from outside but also nurturing locally driven enterprise and business creation among its own young population. The visit reinforces a pattern of direct, city-level engagement with the next generation on issues that shape their professional futures. [3]
