A small fire broke out on February 26 in a unit above the museum’s gallery on Drew Road near Airport and Derry Roads. While firefighters contained the blaze, the sprinkler system flooded the museum, soaking books, artifacts, furniture and other resources. Items dating back to the 1800s were damaged beyond repair, and the building will need to be gutted and rebuilt.
