Australia‑India Institute launches Khel Connect symposium to deepen sports collaboration

The Australia‑India Institute has rolled out a fresh initiative aimed at deepening sporting ties between the two nations. Named Khel Connect, the program is designed to bring together academic institutions, research bodies and industry partners from Australia and India to explore joint projects in sports education, research and innovation.
The inaugural Khel Connect Symposium is set to open on Monday, 12 October, hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai. A virtual platform will run alongside the physical venue, allowing participants from across the globe – including the Indian diaspora – to join the discussions.
Organisers say the event will serve as a launchpad for collaborative ventures, ranging from joint research studies to student‑exchange schemes and technology development in sports science. By linking the two countries’ expertise, the initiative seeks to create pathways for athletes, scholars and entrepreneurs to benefit from shared knowledge and resources.
The symposium’s hybrid format underscores an inclusive approach, ensuring that academics, coaches, policy‑makers and sports‑tech innovators from both sides can contribute. For the Desi community abroad, the programme offers a direct link to emerging opportunities in the evolving landscape of sports education and innovation between Australia and India.
