Denham Welcomes Europe’s First Dedicated Hindu Crematorium in Grand Inauguration

Denham, UK – On Saturday 18 May, the Anupam Mission unveiled the “Om Crematorium”, the first facility in Europe built specifically for Hindu, Jain and Sikh funeral rites. The inauguration was led by Sant Bhagwant Sahebji Jashbhai and attended by a cross‑section of political and spiritual leaders, including MPs Bob Blackman, Shivani Raja and Barry Gardiner, former MP Keith Vaz, as well as community figures such as Vaishnavacharya Goswami Shri Vrajraj Kumar Mahodayashri, Bhagwat Kathakar Shri Bhupendrabhai Pandya and Yogacharya Shri Rudranshji Maharaj.

The ceremony began in the crematorium’s main hall where dignitaries lit a ceremonial lamp, performed Vedic chants and broke a sacred coconut, marking the start of services that will follow traditional Hindu, Jain and Sikh customs. The presence of peers and faith leaders underscored the importance of having a dedicated space for end‑of‑life rituals that respect South‑Asian traditions.

The Om Crematorium, located in Denham, offers a purpose‑built environment for the diaspora to conduct cremations with cultural authenticity, filling a long‑standing gap in the UK’s funeral infrastructure.
