The corridor stretches from Raj Nagar Extension to the Ghazipur border and has significantly reduced travel time between Ghaziabad and Delhi since its inauguration by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 30, 2018, when it was built at a cost of approximately Rs 1,147 crore. The municipal corporation's executive committee approved the proposal to rename the road as Ram Setu in February 2024, following which work began on giving the corridor a distinct cultural and religious identity. Mayor Sunita Dayal told reporters that the project aims not only to enhance the city's aesthetics but also to give Ghaziabad a prominent cultural landmark. The Ram Setu Gate is being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 1 crore and will feature a giant bow and arrow atop its structure at the entry point. Beautification works are also underway along the route, including decorative lighting designed to make the gateway a recognisable landmark during both day and night. A 15-year-old girl died on July 15 after being allegedly pushed from the fourth floor of a building by a man identified as her stalker in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
