ICC Announces Expanded Women’s Cricket Week Ahead of 2026 T20 World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the second edition of ICC Women’s Cricket Week will run from June 21 to 28, running in parallel with the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales. Nearly 60 ICC member nations have signed up for the week‑long celebration, a notable rise from the 44 nations that participated in the inaugural 2025 edition.
The timing is strategic: the event will turn the twelve‑team World Cup into a global festival, with each participating country encouraged to host grassroots activities, fan engagements and streaming of matches. For diaspora communities, especially those of South Asian origin, the initiative offers a chance to rally behind their national teams and promote women's cricket at the community level.
Organisers hope the expanded reach will boost visibility for the women’s game, inspire the next generation of cricketers and generate broader commercial interest. With the tournament set against the backdrop of English and Welsh venues, fans worldwide can follow live action while local clubs organise viewing parties and clinics. The ICC’s push reflects a growing commitment to gender equity in cricket and provides the Desi diaspora with another reason to unite behind their favorite players on the world stage.
