Indo‑American Arts Council Channels Dance Festival Funds to Nepal Flood Relief

The Indo‑American Arts Council (IAAC) has announced that its 18th‑annual Erasing Borders Dance Festival will serve a charitable purpose beyond the stage. Held on September 19‑20 at the Kaye Playhouse of Hunter College in New York, the two‑day event will allocate a portion of each ticket’s revenue to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, which is supporting families displaced by recent flooding.

The festival, known for presenting a blend of contemporary and traditional South‑Asian dance, will now carry the added resonance of a humanitarian appeal. By directing ticket proceeds to the Nepal relief effort, IAAC hopes to mobilize the diaspora audience—many of whom maintain personal ties to the region—to contribute directly to emergency assistance.

Organizers emphasized that the initiative reflects a broader commitment to social responsibility within the arts community. Attendees will enjoy performances while knowing their participation helps address an urgent crisis affecting Nepal’s vulnerable populations.
