Remembering Two Texas Lives: Tributes from the Allen Region's Broader Community
Community is at the heart of Desi life in Allen, and honoring those who leave lasting impressions — whether through service, family, or civic involvement — is a value shared across cultures. This week, we pause to remember two individuals from the wider Allen and Central Texas region whose lives touched many.
🕯️ Mike Glover: Veteran, Nurse, and Devoted Father
Mike Glover, a Temple, Texas native who was born in 1948 and passed away in December 2025 at the age of 77, led a life defined by service — first to his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and then to patients as a registered nurse at Scott & White Hospital. He later transitioned into medical research, working as a research monitor for a medical device company based in California. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was remembered most dearly by those who knew him for his unwavering pride in and devotion to his son Allen. [4]
🎖️ Shane Allen: A Life Honored with Military Distinction
Shane Allen, a resident of Little River Academy, Texas, passed away in August 2025 at the age of 66 and was laid to rest with military honors at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Born in Amarillo in 1958, he was survived by his wife, children, stepchildren, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. His graveside service with military honors reflected a life marked by service and strong family bonds within the Central Texas community. [7]
