Two Tiruchirappalli Tourists Missing in Nepal Amid Floods

Two tourists from Tiruchirappalli who were travelling to Nepal as part of a religious pilgrimage were reported missing amid severe floods in the country, according to a report by ANI dated August 27, 2026. The travellers had set out from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu as part of a group visiting Nepal. Flash floods hit Nepal's Nuwakot district, causing widespread devastation in the region. Families of the missing tourists reached out to authorities and appealed for help in locating their loved ones. The incident highlights the risks facing pilgrims and travellers to Nepal during the monsoon season, when the country frequently experiences dangerous flooding and landslides. Nepal is a popular destination for devotees from Tamil Nadu travelling on religious circuits, including visits to sacred Himalayan shrines. The ANI report noted that the families were seeking assistance as they awaited word on the whereabouts of the two individuals from Tiruchirappalli. The floods in Nuwakot and surrounding districts caused disruption to travel and communication, compounding the challenge for rescue and search efforts in the region during that period. [6]
