Ahmedabad Teenager Launches Semiconductor Startup; Seva Setu Reaches City Residents
Ahmedabad was at the center of two significant developments this week: an 18-year-old entrepreneur signed a deal to build a semiconductor lead-frame manufacturing facility in Sanand with a projected investment of Rs 80 crore, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel personally oversaw the 12th phase of the Seva Setu civic outreach programme in the city. The two stories together illustrate the city's role as a hub for both startup enterprise and direct governance engagement in Gujarat.
🏢 Micronex Technology Signs MoU for Semiconductor Lead Frame Plant at GIDC Sanand
Rehan Mansuri, an 18-year-old entrepreneur from Ahmedabad, has entered Gujarat's semiconductor sector by founding Micronex Technology and signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Kaynes Semicon at Semicon India 2026, held in New Delhi from September 17 to 19. The MoU sets out a plan to establish a lead-frame manufacturing facility at GIDC Sanand with a projected investment of Rs 80 crore. Lead frames are critical components used in semiconductor packaging and are integral to power electronics and automotive applications. The facility is projected to manufacture 50 crore lead frames annually by May 2027 and is expected to generate approximately 250 direct jobs. By partnering with Kaynes Semicon, Micronex Technology aims to supply lead frames to semiconductor and packaging companies already operating within Gujarat's emerging electronics ecosystem, reducing India's dependence on imported components in this segment. The venture is one of the earlier entries in Gujarat's growing semiconductor supply chain, which has been developing around the Sanand industrial corridor and benefits from the state government's active push to attract electronics manufacturing investment. Gujarat Samachar reported the development as part of the broader momentum around the Semicon India initiative. [4]
🗳️ Seva Setu's 12th Phase Brings Government Schemes to Ahmedabad's Four City Zones
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's 12th phase of the Seva Setu programme brought government services and welfare scheme benefits directly to residents across the city, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel personally present to distribute certificates and oversee the event. The programme was jointly organized by the AMC's South, East, Central and North zones and held as part of the broader Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, an initiative timed to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public service. Seva Setu operates as a single-window platform where citizens can apply for and receive benefits from multiple government programmes without visiting separate offices. Patel toured the venue, inspecting stalls staffed by officials from various departments who processed applications and distributed assistance to attendees on the spot. The initiative reflects an ongoing effort by the state government to increase direct access to welfare schemes for residents who may face barriers in navigating standard administrative processes. The 12th phase builds on earlier editions of the programme and indicates that the AMC intends to make Seva Setu a recurring component of citizen outreach across all zones of the city, keeping the government-citizen interface active at the grassroots level.
