Over the Independence Day long weekend in late July, the city hosted the fourth edition of the AMLCA national youth cricket tournament at the Rio Ranch cricket fields, drawing 12 elite youth teams and 138 players from across North America. Organised by the World Cricket Initiative in partnership with the Lone Star Premier Cricket League, the four-day tournament featured 12 elite youth teams representing programs from California to New Jersey, along with participants from Canada. A total of 138 young cricketers competed in 24 matches contested in the U13 Division B category, played in a 30-over format that tested both skill and stamina.
