Eight Australian Universities Greenlit for Indian Operations
Educational collaboration between India and Australia has reached a new milestone. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Melbourne, Federal Education Minister Jason Clare announced that eight Australian universities have now received official approval to operate in India.
The latest institutions to join the group are Flinders University and Victoria University, which secured the necessary approvals to expand their academic presence. They join six other universities whose plans were previously endorsed, marking a significant and tangible step in the Australia-India education partnership.
This development is a direct result of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, with education serving as a key pillar. For the global Desi community, particularly students and professionals, this expansion offers more accessible pathways to globally recognized Australian qualifications. It represents a growing trend of international institutions establishing roots in India, potentially easing the traditional path of studying abroad while fostering academic and cultural exchange directly within the subcontinent.
The move is seen as part of a broader strategy to enhance skill development and research collaboration between the two nations, creating new opportunities for cross-border educational engagement.
