India’s Trade Minister Piyush Goyal Tours Singapore to Open New Paths for Agri‑Food Exports

On Thursday, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal arrived in Singapore as part of an APEDA‑FairPrice roadshow aimed at widening market access for Indian agricultural producers and processed‑food manufacturers. The delegation highlighted a series of initiatives designed to help Indian farmers and food companies tap into Singapore’s demand, as well as broader opportunities across ASEAN and the Australian market.
During the visit, Goyal underscored that the roadshow will showcase Indian products ranging from fresh fruits and vegetables to value‑added items such as ready‑to‑eat meals and packaged snacks. By linking Indian exporters with Singaporean retailers and distributors, the effort seeks to streamline supply chains, improve trade logistics, and meet the growing appetite for South‑Asian flavors in the region.
For the diaspora, the push promises greater visibility for familiar brands and potentially more competitive pricing for everyday groceries. It also signals a strategic push by New Delhi to diversify its export basket, reduce reliance on traditional markets, and strengthen economic ties with fast‑growing economies in Southeast Asia and Oceania.
