A 77-year-old man is assisting police with ongoing investigations after he was caught on CCTV removing cash from a prayer bowl at Hoon Sian Keng temple in Singapore's Eunos neighbourhood. The incident occurred on August 28, 2026, at approximately 1:30 in the afternoon. Footage shared by the temple on its Facebook page shows the elderly man in a blue shirt wandering through the prayer halls, approaching a donation bowl placed in front of a deity statue, removing cash from it — and then, in a moment that drew widespread attention, clasping his hands in a prayer gesture before leaving the premises.
Hoon Sian Keng is a community temple in Eunos, a neighbourhood of longstanding significance for Singapore's Tamil Hindu community.
