NSW Premier Launches Western Sydney University’s Greater Noida Campus, Calls for Stronger Australia‑India Ties

Sydney, Australia – New South Wales Premier Chris Minns officially opened the new campus of Western Sydney University (WSU) in Greater Noida, India, on Monday. The ceremony marked the first day of the university’s operations on Indian soil and was used by Minn as a platform to highlight the untapped potential of the Australia‑India partnership.

Minn emphasised that education and research are natural bridges between the two nations and urged both governments, businesses and academic institutions to deepen collaboration. He noted that while trade and cultural links are already strong, there is “considerable room to grow” in joint ventures, student exchanges and research projects that can benefit both economies.

For the South‑Asian diaspora, the WSU campus offers a new pathway for Indian students seeking an Australian degree without leaving home, and for Australian students interested in studying in India. The campus will initially focus on disciplines such as engineering, business and health sciences, aligning with the skill needs of both markets.
