The funding will go to the Hindu Community Relations Council of Michigan, headquartered in Troy, which will coordinate a statewide programme designed to help temples and religious organisations strengthen their security infrastructure and internal governance. Kuhn noted that Michigan is home to more than 40 Hindu and Jain temples serving tens of thousands of worshippers, and stated: 'This initiative is about protecting the rights and safety of Michigan residents as they gather in worship and service.'
