She attended Michigan State University and married Frederick C. Eckhout in 1953, going on to raise a family with connections spanning Michigan and beyond, including a son residing in Troy. A memorial service was held in May 2026 at the Indian River Catholic Shrine, with burial following at Burt-Mullett Township Cemetery. Her family has asked that contributions be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children in her memory.
